Having your tubes clamped means that a device has been placed on your tubes to prevent you from becoming pregnant. This is something that is intended to be permanent. However, there is a chance that you will be able to conceive if you have the clamps removed.

When the clamps are in place, this means that the eggs are not able to travel through the fallopian tubes. This means that they are not able to reach sperm that will fertilize them. Removing the clamps can allow them to have the opportunity to travel through the tubes once more.

Sometimes, the woman’s tubes are damaged in the process and become blocked. Doctors may be able to remove some portions of the tubes that are damaged, but this could mean that they are now no longer long enough to attach.

When eggs are not able to travel to the uterus, there will not be a way for them to become fertilized. In these instances, women will need to rely on donor eggs and in-vitro fertilization in order to become pregnant. This is something that has a fairly high success rate and will help overcome the challenges of becoming pregnant with clamped tubes.
